Charles Leighton (1855-1939) was born in Farmington, New Hampshire, and died in Lynn, Massachusetts. He married Grace E. Paul in 1887 and became a member of the Mount Carmel Freemason Lodge of Lynn, Massachusetts, in 1890. Leighton was a member of the Massachusetts Society of the Sons of the American Revolution; he was a descendant of David Watson, a soldier in the Revolutionary War. Leighton worked as a lawyer and owned a practice with Ira B. Keith, who was retained as a lawyer by Mary Baker Eddy during the late 1870s until the middle of the 1880s and provided legal advice on lawsuits and managing her property at 8 Broad Street, Lynn.
