Thomas B. Loomis (1834-1915) was born and died in Westfield, Massachusetts. In 1858, he married Lucy J. Loomis (b. Rawson), who later passed away in 1865. Two years later, he married Emeline C. Loomis (b. Rogers). She passed away in 1885, and he married Emma G. Loomis (b. Morton) in 1889. Loomis was a carpenter and worked as a bridge builder for the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad. In 1886, Loomis wrote to Mary Baker Eddy to order a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. He studied Christian Science with Alice T. Mann (b. Newman), a Christian Science practitioner. Loomis joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, on May 31, 1912. He wrote an article titled "Complete Demonstration" that was published in the July 1915 issue of The Christian Science Journal.
