Charles T. Lord (c.1833-1906) was born in Berwick, Maine, and died in
Dedham, Massachusetts. He first studied metaphysical healing with Edward A. Libby, a
metaphysician who at the time was practicing in the New Hampshire-Maine border area. In
February 1884, Lord took Primary class instruction with Mary Baker Eddy, joining the
Christian Scientist Association in March 1884. In November 1884, Lord was expelled from
the Association for defaming Eddy's book,
Science and Health with Key
to the Scriptures, and encouraging people to study with dissident students of
Eddy's. After leaving the Christian Science movement, he worked various jobs including
farm hand and gardener.
