Janet Marchant

Janet Marchant (c.1825-1896) was born in Luss, Scotland, and died in Danvers, Massachusetts. She was a student of Mary Baker Eddy's, studying with her in January 1883 and joining the Christian Scientist Association in February 1883. She was the mother of Janet T. Colman, also a student of Mary Baker Eddy's. There is no record of Marchant uniting with the Church. Records suggest she did not attend meetings of the Association; she was a resident of Edgartown, Massachusetts, so the distance made attending meetings difficult. Marchant's membership in the Association ended officially in July 1889, after a vote by the membership.
