Henry Martin (1875-?) was born in Maine and died in an unknown location.
Sometime in the 1890s he began working for William W. Murdoch, an estate gardener in
Concord, Massachusetts. Murdoch began working for Mary Baker Eddy as a gardener and
groundskeeper at her Pleasant View home in 1895, and through his connection, Martin was
hired to be Eddy's coachman and assistant gardener in August 1897. In 1899 Eddy offered
to pay Martin's tuition to study Christian Science, but the available records do not
indicate that he ever did so. He left Eddy's employ in February 1900 and moved to Boston
where he became a barber.
