Jeannette R. McLellan (b. Reid) (1858-1932) was born in Lockport, New York, and died in Brookline, Massachusetts. She married Archibald McLellan, a businessman, in 1885 when they were both visiting Cleveland, Ohio. The couple moved to Chicago, Illinois, the following year. After the passing of their two young sons, McLellan turned to Mary Baker Eddy's Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures for comfort. The couple took Primary class with Ruth B. Ewing, a student of Mary Baker Eddy, and later took it again, taught by Edward A. Kimball in the Board of Education of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, in December 1903. They joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, on July 3, 1897, and were members of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Chicago, Illinois. McLellan served as chairman of the board of directors of the Central Christian Science Reading Room Association of Chicago. Sometime between 1907 and 1909 the McLellans moved to Brookline. While Eddy's Chestnut Hill home on 384 (today 400) Beacon Street in Brookline was being readied for her use in 1908, McLellan took responsibility for arranging and decorating the interior. She was listed in the directory of The Christian Science Journal as a Christian Science practitioner in Brookline from 1905 to 1921.
