W. M. H. Milner
W. M. H. (Walter Metcalfe Holmes) Milner (1859-1936) was born in
Greenock, Inverclyde, Scotland, and died in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England. He
married Laura M. J. Milner (b. Bainbridge) in 1885 in Wetherby, Yorkshire, England.
Milner was an Anglican vicar, theologian, and author best known for his prolific
writings promoting the British Israelism movement in the late 19th and early 20th
centuries. He authored several books, including The Royal House of
Britain: An Enduring Dynasty (1890), Russia Japhet: or, The
Muscobite, the Cossack and the Mongol (1890), and Verse By
Verse, From Genesis To Malachi (1901). He was a fellow of the Royal
Geographical Society. In 1902 Milner, who had read Mary Baker Eddy's Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, sent an inscribed copy of
The Royal House of Britain to Eddy, who responded
kindly.
