Fanny von Moltke
Fanny von Moltke (1860-1915) was born in Lauenburg, Germany, and died in
Parchim, Germany. Around 1903 she was healed of weak eyes by reading Mary Baker Eddy's
Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. Afterwards,
Moltke started corresponding with Eddy about a German translation of Science and Health,
which her distant cousin, Helmuth Adolf von Moltke, later worked on. Moltke studied
Christian Science with practitioner and teacher Frances Thurber Seal and joined The
First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, on November 7, 1905. She
wrote articles for the Christian Science periodicals, and from 1912 to 1914 she served
as First Reader at First Church of Christ, Scientist, Berlin, Germany. Moltke was listed
in the directory of The Christian Science Journal as a
Christian Science practitioner in Boston in 1910 and in Berlin from 1911 until her
death.
