Maud E. Morton (b. DeSpain) (c. 1850-?) was born in Illinois and died in
an unknown location. Her family moved to Plattsmouth, Nebraska, in 1865, and she worked
as a seamstress. In September 1886, Morton studied Christian Science with Jennie B.
Fenn, a student of Mary Baker Eddy, before becoming a student of Eddy herself and
completing Eddy's Primary class in May 1887. Morton was a member of the Christian
Scientist Association. She introduced Christian Science to her sister, Amanda M. Thomson
(b. DeSpain), who became and remained a Christian Scientist for the rest of her life. By
1890, Morton had changed her surname to Myers. She passed away sometime before
1920.
