Maria B. C. Newcomb (1851-?) was born in Massachusetts and died in an unknown location. She married Francis D. Newcomb, who in the early 1880s received Christian Science treatment through prayer from Sarah H. Crosse, a student of Mary Baker Eddy's. Maria B. C. Newcomb was a student of Eddy's, completing the Primary class in 1887. In 1891 she was invited to join Eddy's household, and spent 16 months caring for her teacher's personal needs during Eddy's residence at 62 North State Street in Concord, New Hampshire, in Roslindale, Massachusetts, and at Pleasant View. On her return to her home in Taunton, Massachusetts, Newcomb pioneered the establishment of Christian Science there by organizing First Church of Christ, Scientist, Taunton, where she served as First Reader. She joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, in October 1892, and was listed as a practitioner in the directory of The Christian Science Journal from 1904-1913.
