Gideon P. Noyes

Gideon P. Noyes (1846-1912) was born and died in Gardiner, Maine. He was a student of Mary Baker Eddy's, taking Primary class instruction with her in March 1886. Noyes joined the Christian Scientist Association in May 1886. He joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, on December 31, 1892, and was a member until his passing. He was the husband of Caroline D. Noyes, who was a student of Eddy's and one of the pioneers of Christian Science in the Midwest. Noyes worked alongside his wife at the Illinois Christian Science Institute in Chicago, and he was also a charter member of the Church of Christ (Scientist), Chicago (later known as First Church of Christ, Scientist, Chicago). In the late 1890s, he returned to Gardiner, where he continued his work as a Christian Science practitioner and advertised as such in the directory in The Christian Science Journal.
