Maria A. Ober (1821-1892) was born and died in New York. She became
interested in Christian Science after suffering from ill health for many years. In late
1885 she wrote to Mary Baker Eddy, asking for more information on Christian Science.
Afterwards she studied
Science and Health with Key to the
Scriptures and also maintained an informal Christian Science healing practice
in her hometown of Sciota, New York.
