Benjamin P. Palmer (1840-1916) was born in Chester, New Hampshire, and died in Somerville, Massachusetts. He was a journalist and editor who spent 61 years working for various newspapers throughout New England. In 1878, he began working at The Boston Globe as a journalist and, in 1883, he was promoted to managing editor, a position he held during the Eddy v. Arens lawsuit. Palmer left the Globe in 1886 and worked for various newspapers before returning to the Globe in 1900 as the editor of the religious column, a position he held until his passing.
