John Parsons (1850-1923) was born in Steeple Ashton, Wiltshire, England,
and died in Oakland, California. He was a graduate of Harvard University (1874) and
Andover Theological Seminary (1877). After his ordination in 1878, he served as pastor
of the East and North Woodstock Congregational churches in Connecticut. In May 1883, he
was appointed acting pastor of the Dayville Congregational Church in Killingly,
Connecticut, and served until August 1884. He then moved to Denver, Colorado, where he
served as assistant and then later as head librarian of Denver Public Library.
