John H. Patty (1844-1896) was born in Pleasant Hill, Ohio, and died in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a phrenologist, a graduate of the American Phrenological Institute, who owned and operated a phrenology studio alongside his wife, Rose Adams Patty. They were based in St. Louis, Missouri, and later in Kansas City. Patty and his wife were friends with Abraham P. Barton, a Kansas City-based publisher of the New Thought periodical, The Life. Although Patty expressed an interest in Christian Science, there is no record of him or his wife studying with Mary Baker Eddy.
