John H. Patty (1844-1896) was born in Pleasant Hill, Ohio, and died in
Kansas City, Missouri. He was a phrenologist, a graduate of the American Phrenological
Institute, who owned and operated a phrenology studio alongside his wife, Rose Adams
Patty. They were based in St. Louis, Missouri, and later in Kansas City. Patty and his
wife were friends with Abraham P. Barton, a Kansas City-based publisher of the New
            Thought periodical,
The Life. Although Patty expressed an
interest in Christian Science, there is no record of him or his wife studying with Mary
            Baker Eddy.
