Minerva A. Peirce (1848-1888) was a lifelong resident of New Bedford, Massachusetts. She was the eldest daughter of John W. Peirce, a wealthy cooper who manufactured barrels adapted for use on board whaling ships. Although she expressed an interest in Christian Science and studying with Mary Baker Eddy, there is no record of Minerva A. Peirce studying with her or uniting with the Church of Christ (Scientist).
