Minerva A. Peirce (1848-1888) was a lifelong resident of New Bedford,
Massachusetts. She was the eldest daughter of John W. Peirce, a wealthy cooper who
manufactured barrels adapted for use on board whaling ships. Although she expressed an
interest in Christian Science and studying with Mary Baker Eddy, there is no record of
Minerva A. Peirce studying with her or uniting with the Church of Christ
(Scientist).
