William R. Perry (1859-1911) was born in Lyons, Kansas, and died in
Denver, Colorado. His family moved to Denver when he was three years old. Perry
graduated from Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri, and worked as a county
clerk in Denver. He was also involved in local politics. He married Minnie B. Hall De
Soto (also known as Minnie Hall Perry) in Denver, Colorado, in 1887. A student of Mary
Baker Eddy, De Soto was involved in Christian Science until her death, working as a
teacher and practitioner and founding the Colorado Christian Science Institute in Denver
in 1886. Perry was not open to Christian Science, and De Soto obtained a divorce in
1894. Their daughter, Antoinette Perry, was secretary and chairman of the American
Theatre Wing and is the namesake of the Broadway theatre Tony Awards.
