Charles F. Phillips (1855-1937) was born in Illinois and died in Corbettsville, New York. By 1880 he had moved with his family to Brooklyn, New York, where he went into business with his father operating a spring bed factory. In 1893 he married Erramette P. Phillips (b. Post), a drawing teacher, in Springfield, Illinois. After marriage they lived in Brooklyn, moving to Mispillon, Delaware, sometime prior to 1900, where Phillips became a poultry farmer. By 1920 they settled in Corbettsville. In 1887 Phillips wrote to Mary Baker Eddy requesting information about studying at the Massachusetts Metaphysical College, although it does not appear that he ever did so.
