Ella V. Pierce (1845-1911) was born in West Brookfield, Massachusetts, and died in Norton, Massachusetts. She began her career as a school teacher. When poor health made her unable to continue teaching, she began walking daily to improve her health. This practice provoked a keen interest in the local animals, and she became known for her expertise in animal observation and embarked on a career in taxidermy. She subsequently became a nurse and served in that capacity until her passing. In May 1886, she wrote to Mary Baker Eddy to order a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. Based on the records available, we have found no further information concerning her involvement with Christian Science.
