William Pipe (?-?) was born and died in an unknown location. He was the
private secretary and assistant to John Henry Barrows, 1847-1902, who was Chairman of
the General Committee on the World's Parliament of Religions held in Chicago, Illinois,
in 1893. In this role Pipe corresponded with delegates and speakers, managed logistics,
and read several of the papers presented at the Parliament. He was also chief assistant
at The Parliament Publishing Company and helped with the publication of Barrow's book
entitled
The World's Parliament of Religions: An Illustrated and
Popular Story of the World's First Parliament of Religions, Held in Chicago in
Connection with the Columbian Exposition of 1893. It contains a Christian
Science section that includes a paper prepared by Mary Baker Eddy.
