Horace N. Poole (1845-1897) was born in Boothbay, Maine, and died in
Boothbay Harbor, Maine. He was a student of Mary Baker Eddy's, completing the Primary
class (1884) and Normal class (1887). He was also an active member of the Christian
Scientist Association and the Church of Christ (Scientist). In the spring of 1888, Poole
and other students caused a split within the Association over its response to the Abby
Corner court case. After leaving the Christian Science movement, Poole, alongside his
wife, Mary, maintained a healing practice in Boston until his passing.
