George Prescott (1837-1924), a resident of Rowley, Massachusetts, was a student of Mary Baker Eddy's in February 1877, studying alongside his wife, Celia A. Prescott (1843-1909). In the spring of 1878, the Prescotts moved to San Francisco, California, to start a healing practice. The Prescotts were admitted to the Christian Scientist Association in December 1877, and asked to be removed from the Association in October 1878, a request that was not acted upon by the Association. They were ultimately expelled in June 1880 after a long absence from meetings.
