Julia E. Prescott (1849-1924) was born in North Berwick, Maine, and died in Melrose, Massachusetts. She was a student of Mary Baker Eddy's, taking Primary class in March 1886 and joining the Christian Scientist Association in May 1886. Prescott joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, in October 1892, and was a Christian Science practitioner, listed in the directory of The Christian Science Journal from 1895 until 1923. She also played a prominent role in the founding of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Reading, Massachusetts. After her passing, the Reading church adopted a resolution saying, in part, "that we will strive to emulate this noble example." Prescott served in Eddy's household from August 1905 through February 1906 and numerous times for shorter periods in 1907.
