John W. Ralston (1831-1907) was born in Tennessee and died in Danville, Illinois. By 1850 he was living with his family in Rockville, Indiana. In 1858 he married Permilia J. Ralston (b. Dickson) in Vermilion County, Illinois, and they lived in various locations in Vermilion County for the rest of their lives, including Carroll Township, Indianola, and Danville. Ralston was a practicing physician for over 50 years. In 1887 he wrote to the Massachusetts Metaphysical College to order a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.
