Lydia A. Richards (1844-1933) was born in Columbus, Ohio, and died in Elgin, Illinois. She married George W. Hawkins, a watchmaker, in Faribault, Minnesota, in 1891. Richards wrote to Mary Baker Eddy in 1886 for permission to act as an agent selling the sixteenth edition of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. She was a student of Silas J. Sawyer's, a student of Eddy's. Although she expressed an interest in studying with Eddy, there is no record of her doing so.
