Frank W. (Frank West) Rollins (1860-1915) was a Harvard-educated lawyer
who was admitted to the New Hampshire bar in 1882. He spent his early career working in
his family's banking firm and also served with distinction in the National Guard.
Rollins entered politics in 1895, serving one term in the New Hampshire Senate before
being elected Governor of New Hampshire and serving from 1899 to 1901. During his tenure
he championed tourism and established the state's "Old Home Week" festival. Mary Baker
Eddy was an enthusiastic supporter of the festival and invited approximately 500
Christian Scientists from all over New England to attend the inaugural event in Concord
in August 1899. Eddy also supported and attended the Concord State Fair in September
1900 and 1901, sitting with Rollins and his wife in the governor's box at the fair in
1900.
