James Sargent (1844-1927) was born in New Brunswick, Canada, and died in Santa Cruz, California. He was married to Laura E. Sargent, a student of Mary Baker Eddy's, who served in Eddy's household on and off over a period of twenty years. For many years, James Sargent worked alongside his older brother, Henry Sargent, in his lumber business in Oconto, Wisconsin. There is no record of James Sargent studying with Mary Baker Eddy or uniting with the Church of Christ (Scientist).
