J. A. Seitz (1837-1922) was born in Melmore, Ohio, and died in Cos Cob, Connecticut. He was ordained as a Universalist minister in 1867 and began his ministry in Adrian, Ohio. He later moved to Norway, Maine, and, in 1878, established the New Religion Publishing Company and the New Religion newspaper. In 1882, he moved to North Conway, New Hampshire, continuing to publish New Religion, as well as establishing the White Mountain News newspaper. He sold the newspapers in the mid-1880s and afterwards was a minister in West Concord, Vermont, and New Britain, Connecticut.
