Emma L. Shelp (1845-1917) was born in Mount Clemens, Michigan, and died
in Detroit, Michigan. By 1870 she was living and working as a schoolteacher in Bruce
Township, Michigan. By 1910 she had moved back to Mount Clemens and was living with an
aunt. She passed away while staying with her sister in Detroit. In 1887 Shelp wrote to
Mary Baker Eddy to order a pamphlet on Christian Science.
