Elizabeth A. Shepard (b. Goddard) (1829-1910) was born in Providence, Rhode Island, and died in Newport, Rhode Island. She married Thomas P. Shepard, a physician, businessman, and philanthropist, in 1856, and they resided in Providence. During the 1880s, Shepard received Christian Science treatment through prayer from Eugene H. Greene, a student of Mary Baker Eddy. She attended one lesson in Eddy's January 1887 Primary class. Shepard was a philanthropist and donated her wealth to a variety of public and private institutions and charities across Rhode Island. She was a member of the Episcopal Church.
