Frances E. Stich

Frances E. Stich (b. Tyrrell) (1841-1905) was born in Ridgeville, Ohio, and died in Clinton, Iowa. By 1860 she was working as a schoolteacher in Ridgeville, and in 1872 she married John M. Stich in Black River Township, Ohio. He was a Swiss immigrant who worked as a portrait painter. After their marriage the couple lived in Clinton. Stich took the Primary course with Mary Baker Eddy in August 1886 and thereafter joined the Christian Scientist Association. In 1887 she requested to withdraw from the Association due to dissatisfaction with the demands of Christian Science, which request was officially granted in 1889.
