Emma L. Stowe (b. Marcy) (1952-1909) was born in Massachusetts and died in Washington. In 1869 she married George M. Stowe, a schoolteacher, in Blue Earth, Minnesota, and they settled in Eyota, Minnesota. Sometime in the 1880s they moved to Puyallup, Washington. Stowe's husband died in 1892, and thereafter she moved to Tacoma, Washington. Stowe became interested in Christian Science in the early 1890s. In a November 1893 note published in The Christian Science Journal, she wrote that she experienced healing through Christian Science treatment around 1891 and thereafter began studying Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures and taking classes in Christian Science.
