Josephine H. Thomas (b. Sherman) (1830-1904) was born in Norwich,
Connecticut, and died in New York, New York. In 1854 she married Daniel G. Thomas, a
merchant and later a captain and military storekeeper during the American Civil War. In
1860 they were living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. By 1868 they had moved to
Burlington, New Jersey. Daniel passed away in 1870. By 1881 Thomas was living with her
daughter, Julia H. Thomas, in Queens, New York. Julia wrote to Mary Baker Eddy in 1887
to ask for a Christian Science practitioner recommendation for Thomas.
