Asa B. Thompson (1828-1885) was born in Irasburg, Vermont, and died in
Barnet, Vermont. He was a medical doctor who practiced in Barnet for over 30 years. In
his later years he suffered from Bright's Disease, and after traditional medicine failed
to cure him, he received Christian Science treatment through prayer from several
Christian Science practitioners. In 1885, Mary E. Harris, a student of Mary Baker
Eddy's, wrote to Eddy on behalf of Asa and Nancy N. Thompson, expressing their desire
for their son, Frank B. Thompson, to study with Eddy.
