Abigail Tilton (1816-1886) was the eldest sister of Mary Baker Eddy. Abigail married Alexander H. Tilton (1804-1878), a wealthy textile mill owner, on July 27, 1837. Alexander was a descendant of the family for which Tilton, New Hampshire, is named. The Tiltons had three children: Albert (1845-1870), Alfred (1846-1846) and Abigail Evelyn (1854-1876). After her husband's death, Abigail Tilton continued to operate the mill in partnership with Selwyn B. Peabody (1839-1889).
