Nancy J. Van Petten (b. Bowen) (c. 1841-?) was born in New York and died in an unknown location. In 1855 she was living with her family in Ira, New York, and around 1865 she became the second wife of Jacob Van Petten, a farmer. They lived in Sterling, New York. Sometime after her husband's death in 1880 Van Petten relocated to Oswego Falls (now Oswego), New York. In 1887 she was sent a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by her acquaintance David J. Chaffee.
