Edna Kimball Wait (b. Kimball) (1879-1945) was born in Evanston, Illinois, and died in Chesterton, Indiana. She was the daughter of Edward A. (Edward Ancel) Kimball (1845-1909) and Kate Davidson Kimball, prominent Christian Scientists who were students of Mary Baker Eddy. Because of this, Wait saw Eddy speak in Chicago, Illinois, in 1888 and also visited her at her Pleasant View home in Concord, New Hampshire, when she was a child. She began healing others when she was about 18 years old. In December 1903 she took the Primary class taught by her father in the Board of Education of the First Church of Christ, Scientist. She served as his secretary during his busy years as a lecturer, teacher, and practitioner.
Wait was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Chicago, Illinois, serving as its clerk for many years, and she joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, on January 2, 1897. She married Henry H. Wait, an engineer and inventor, in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, in 1913, and by 1920 they had moved to Indiana. Henry joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, on June 3, 1927, and from 1929 to 1931 Edna served as Second Reader of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Michigan City, Indiana, while her husband served as First Reader. In 1937 she took the Normal class in the Board of Education of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, and she started teaching her own classes the following year, continuing to do so until her death. Wait was listed in the directory of The Christian Science Journal as a Christian Science practitioner in Chicago from 1900 to 1902, 1911 to 1916, and later in Chesterton from 1935 until her death.
