Georgianna A. Wells

Georgianna A. Wells (b. Wheeler) (c. 1826-1908) was born and died in New York, New York. She married Allen T. Wells, a merchant. They lived in Memphis, Tennessee, from about 1850 to 1870 before returning to New York, living in Brooklyn in the early 1870s and in Lysander in the late 1870s. They moved to Denver, Colorado, sometime prior to 1880, and again returned to New York in the mid-1880s to remain for the rest of their lives. In 1886 Wells wrote to Mary Baker Eddy from the home of her sister, Emily A. Spencer, in Keyport, New Jersey, to inform her of her study of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures and to inquire about Christian Science teachers in New York from whom she might receive instruction, and she ended up studying with Laura V. Lathrop, a student of Mary Baker Eddy's. Wells joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, on January 1, 1898.
