Abbie K. Whiting (1850-1883) was born in Newbury, Massachusetts, and died in Newburyport, Massachusetts. She was a student of Mary Baker Eddy's, studying with her in September 1881. She was an active member of the Christian Scientist Association and Church of Christ (Scientist) until her passing. On November 9, 1881, Mary Baker Eddy was ordained Pastor of the Church, and Whiting conducted the ordination ceremony at 8 Broad Street. In January 1882, Whiting was elected to serve as a director of the Church, a post she held for the remainder of that year.
