Colin C. Whitlock (1859-1939) was born in Saint Andrews, New Brunswick,
Canada, and died in Calais, Maine. He began his career as a store clerk in Saint
Andrews. In 1883 he married Annie Whitlock (b. Inches) in Saint Stephen, New Brunswick.
In 1887 Whitlock opened a grocery store in Calais and was also involved in a sawmill and
lumber business. Around 1920 he retired from the grocery business and became the
proprietor of the St. Croix Bookstore. Whitlock was the brother of Emma J. Whitlock, a
Christian Science practitioner and a student of Mary Baker Eddy's student Julia S.
Bartlett.
