Warren Wilkie (c.1830-1899) was born in Le Roy, New York, and died in Chicago, Illinois. In 1855 he graduated from Union College in Schenectady, New York, and after graduation moved west and taught at the County Seminary in Terre Haute, Indiana. In 1868, he began a ten-year stint working for the Board of Education for Chicago, eventually becoming Secretary of the Board. He served as Superintendent of the Austin, Illinois, public schools from 1879-1881, while also teaching at the Cook County Normal School, now known as Chicago State University. Although he expressed an interest in Christian Science, there is no record of him studying with Mary Baker Eddy or uniting with the Church of Christ (Scientist).
