Rebecca L. Wingert (1857-1889) was born in Canada West (now Ontario), Canada, and died in Freeport, Illinois. By 1860 she had moved with her family to Lewiston, New York, and from there to Rock City, Illinois, by 1870. She was a dressmaker. In about 1883 her family moved to Freeport where she opened a millinery shop. In 1886 Wingert wrote to Mary Baker Eddy to order a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.
