Edward F. Woodbury (1849-1899) was born in Lynn, Massachusetts, and died
in Boston, Massachusetts. He was a mechanical engineer who patented two hot air engines,
which were external combustion engines similar to the Stirling cycle engine. He was also
the husband of Josephine Curtis Woodbury, a former student of Mary Baker Eddy's who
brought an unsuccessful libel suit against Eddy in 1899.
