Nellie N. Woodhead, a Christian Scientist living in Chicago, began a correspondence with Mary Baker Eddy in 1887. Although not a student of Eddy's, Eddy wrote her warm, helpful letters, and Woodhead began to address Eddy in her own letters as "My dear friend." She was married to J. E. Woodhead.
