Mary Baker Eddy and Asa Gilbert Eddy moved to Boston in November of 1879, renting both rooms for the fledgling Church of Christ (Scientist) and living quarters at 133 West Newton. They agreed with their landlady, Rosalia Hall, to stay until May 1880. For reasons unknown, after about five weeks, Hall gave the Eddys notice and turned off the heat in their apartment. Although the Eddys' stay was brief at this address, meetings and services were held in the rooms.
