Accession: 025A.10.017
Editorial Title: Clara E. Choate to Mary Baker Eddy, December 16, 1881
Author: Clara E. Choate
Recipient: Mary Baker Eddy
Date: December 16, 1881
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by Clara E. Choate on lined paper from Boston, Massachusetts.
Editorial Note: Choate writes that she wishes the Church of Christ (Scientist) would pay Eddy for the use of her room and says that as a member of the business committee she will try to work something out. Choate mentions receiving a letter from Celeste Hart, asking Choate to help her. Choate shares an idea she has about holding a course of private lectures for a fee, with Eddy as the paid speaker. She feels that money is the test, and everything is valued accordingly. She refers to a comment she made about Henry L. Bancroft. Apparently she had spoken critically about him to Eddy, and she hopes that her opinions won't alter Eddy's views. Choate adds that she wouldn't knowingly harm anyone by thought, word, or deed. Choate worries about Eddy's troubles, and she hopes that something will come to lift Eddy's load.
