"I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son!Luke 15:21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. " Yesterday I added to my awful failure in the night, the cruel spasms of the action in the morning.
I cannot ask forgiveness, nor ask you to have confidence in me again. "Make me as one of thy hired servantsLuke 15:18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, Luke 15:19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants. ," for I know I can help to keep things together outside, until this Crisis is past.
Inability to meet the demand drove me to distraction. I felt I must hide myself a few days, and so Mrs Baker found me in brother's quiet home.
God bless you and I thank you for sending Mrs Baker to have me come back at once to the cottage, because I saw her, – the devil's hand, behind the scene, what would be said if I should not soon return to Pleasant View.
I could at once see how I could be helpful at the cottage at this time, however sad my failures at the house have been, for, though I have kept it from you, dear mother, the Cottage and August, in his general management, have needed my constant support, so much so that it has sometimes seemed hopeless to keep everything right side up with them at their posts.
God bless you the more for my adding to your experiences and make me still of some use here and punish me till all my weaknesses are overcome.
