My Dear Teacher;

You will surely say (as I have heard my Mother) that I make haste slowly, It shall be said now though, Your requestEditorial Note: Mary Baker Eddy had requested Sue Ella Bradshaw to establish an Institute in California for the purpose of teaching Christian Science. See L04634 and L04635. shall be carried out to the best of my ability, I have considered the question perhaps longer than I need, or rather, I have found there are no considerations, I do not fear to disobey the law of error but let the lie dread the chemic tests of Truth,

I wondered if you meant to have the Institute established according to State Statutes and went to the office of Secretary of State making full inquiries in regard to such things (but did not make known what I wished to establish) There were no provisions that [?] Unclear or illegible  would be of any benefit As Written: benifit or use so far as I could see, for the present anywayAs Written:any way. All requiring so many trustees or associates. When the number (over five) is obtained there are no restrictions or limitations,

I purchased property in San Jose last year for Christian ScienceAs Written:C. S. purposes and if a school could be established regardless of pupils it would be already accomplished When it becomes known that I will teach I think that difficulty will disappear. I have kept myself so quiet heretofore. but I should be able to speak now. I was very much interested in a lady who came to me todayAs Written:to-day for treatment, a pupil of Mrs Root, and she was as she expressed it "all muddled" in respect to her instruction. She seemed much pleased with the idea I gave her of Christian Science the College and its Founder as the true source. She is a young widow self-supportingAs Written:self supporting and poor. When such are ready to be taught shall I do it without price? I would be glad to. [*]Archival Note: The following text was later added to the document by another annotator, disrupting the surrounding thought.Handshift:Mary Baker EddyYes Do as thinks proper about state Statutes[*]Archival Note: End floating text.

Handshift:Sue Ella BradshawI will send to you a notice for the Journal and you can do as seems best about having it inserted under the circumstances, and have someoneAs Written:some one make corrections if necessary.

I wished to stay in San Jose if they will yet hear me because to my sense it is the chief city, the city of prophecy and promise, called the Athens of California and the Garden City, and many think this little valley an earthly paradise. I will send you a paper just prepared, for the purpose of giving information to those of the eastern states. and you can get at least a birds-eye view. for the illustrations are very correct,

I have yet so many more things to say I will have to wait for another day

I am no farther away here than in Boston your thought seems just as real and some other things lose their force, It becomes the peaceful sea. the western shore

Lovingly,
Sue E. Bradshaw.
