Accession: 210.35.033
Editorial Title: Hanover P. Smith to Mary Baker Eddy, December 1882
Author: Hanover P. Smith
Recipient: Mary Baker Eddy
Date: December 1882
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by Hanover P. Smith on embossed lined paper from Lowell, Massachusetts.
Editorial Note: Smith tells Mary Baker Eddy that he is writing to introduce her to Sarah A. Hunt who wishes to work for board and "take charge of things." Smith assures Eddy that Hunt is someone she can trust. Hunt has come to Boston to hear Eddy lecture. He also writes that Philetus Burnham and his wife are coming to Boston because they want to hear Eddy speak. Smith mentions that they will be coming to hear Eddy's sermon, "The 7th Modern Wonder." Smith has sold his last copy of Eddy's book, Science and Health, and asks that Eddy send two or three more copies back with Sarah A. Hunt when she returns to Lowell. He has also spoken with the Baptist minister, who is willing for Eddy to use their church edifice, if the officers of the church agree. Smith talked with the minister for about two hours about Science and Health. The minister has now read some of it and has many questions to ask. Smith reports that, as a Christian Science practitioner, he has also found a new patient.
