Accession: 237AP1.38.013
Editorial Title: Silas J. Sawyer to Mary Baker Eddy, January 28, 1884
Author: Silas J. Sawyer
Recipient: Mary Baker Eddy
Date: January 28, 1884
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by Silas J. Sawyer on lined printed stationery of the Gault House, Chicago, Illinois.
Editorial Note: Sawyer writes to Mary Baker Eddy concerning his efforts to get firms in Chicago to sell Eddy's book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, particularly Jansen, McClurg & Co. and F. H. Revell. Revell seems to be a more likely prospect due to their handling of religious books. One reason Jansen, McClurg, & Co. appears to be opposed to selling Science and Health is that a representative of the company, Frederick B. Smith, has an aunt who is devoted to the faith cure proponent Charles Cullis but has not been helped by him. Sawyer also writes of continued efforts to show Bradford Sherman and his son, Roger Sherman, the errors in their practice of Christian Science.
